Why do you want to join the whitelisted roleplaying community?: Well. I'm done with the DM on Unturned servers, I'm trying to have a realistic experience.

Character background- Write a background for your character. Talk about how you ended up in the apocalypse and what sort of person your character is- try to keep things realistic:  

Richard peaked through the blinds and upon seeing the horde, ordered his wife to hide in the cellar as he switched off the generator and the lights. The two hid in a pile of trash that had collected over the weeks consisting of rotted food, useless scraps, and decaying wood. Mites and mosquitos alike seemed to love the spot as they had no problem buzzing about in great number. All in all, the smell was absolutely rancid let alone the sight, however, this was the only area that strangers were likely to gloss over.

Richard shuddered upon his recollection of the event and even more at how they managed to get by. Still the optimist, he knew that he simply needed to double the guard. The herds were not a worry at all in the winter, rendered immobile by the frostbite and worn away by spring if anything winter would be welcomed. 

Three months later

The government started to set up safe zones in areas where such a zone could be maintained. But after they were mostly lost to an avenging horde of the undead. He was bound to go search for his family. When he arrived at the Farm he was living in before with his wife. He found the farm trashed, he announced his presence and then he proceeded to barge through the kitchen door. Only to find out the place has been sacked. Had his wife been taken? Or had she fled, all he found was a pamphlet with the information that Chernarus is safe! Now he is here, looking for his wife.
