Decided to check out the community and the servers today after a good break.
As expected not much has changed, minecraft servers came out, that's about it.
Now I'm wondering what happened to the Canada+ planning is the idea ditched or hasn't the calendar given the time for it yet?
The bigger problem would be the map and the servers,
One active server, running on the Chernarus map. Wipe's are happening and the community is going forward, new things are happening on the grass of chernarus.
Just one problem, the fps the players are still running on 20 - 35 fps, the scheduled wipe on 17.8 won't help much, it will raise the fps by a little bit and scroll 2 weeks forward and were in this same situation again.
Before I left for the break, I remember I heard Nylex talking about ez fixing the fps problem on chernarus, something to do with memory problems, I guess that never happened.
I'm not back here just to talk shit about the servers, I'm here to ask some questions and possibly give some suggestions and tips for the servers.
First of all, I don't suggest putting up another server on a completely new map, those have never done the job. The server come's out people are interested in it for 2 weeks, but usually nothing really happens on the servers, no safezones and not much to explore, then they die out.
Examples: Hawaii, Germany and the list goes on.
All of that added up my suggestion would be to stick to one server, easier to moderate and add content to explore.
As I said the situation is sketchy, everyone knows it. Nylex is keeping only one server up ^ which sounds good at first, but the map is just broken and atm his saving attempts are the map wipes, that just doesn't do the trick.
Now I'm basically breaking my own words by saying this, but few choices would be to change the map on the main server asap or setup another server on a safe choice, example Canada+ a lot of asking for it and everyone knows and loves it. I know Nylex is full of people asking for Canada+ rn and completely understandable, but Canada is not the only choice, overgrown and other maps would gather players as well.
When it comes to the main server, doesn't really matter which map it would change to, it gather's people as long as there is content to explore (sz's etc...) and is well moderated.
In this topic I'm not even going to go to the moderating problems and the shortage of staff, everyone knows it and not much to do for it when the applications are shit, yeah forget it.
Anyways If you got this far in the topic, I'd like to take my time to thank you. Hopefully this topic gave at least some tips and information to the community on the situation.
That's it from me this time, good to be back and catch you guys on the fields of the apocalypse.
Thanks for the input:)
We had 1 admin who was supposedly working on Canada+, but then he left. Since I don't have time to edit and make a 2019 version of the map we have 2 options:
Either put the original Canada+ map on the server, or see if a community member would like to have a go at editing it.
I also really like the idea of an Overgrown 3+ Server. I agree that splitting the community up to different servers wouldn't be a great idea, however if the servers population gets back up to how it was and we have a decent sized admin team, I don't see why we can't operate 2 servers. Each one being different from each other to provide a different experience. The only thing is we'd need to ensure they remain active by putting equal care into each one.
Regarding the FPS issue on Chernarus, Ez did try and fix that, but with no luck. I had a little play around and found that reducing the amount of trees helped quite a bit. I'm just not sure if I want to remove so many trees and make the map look ugly.
Hey so I saw this sitting here and thought I'd put my input in.
So basically, Canada+, from what I understand is just in need of new vehicle placements so we can get the mod vehicles and the Vanilla ones correct?
FPS is not likely to ever go for the better on chenrarus and that's just the sad truth. It's the way Unturned's engine handles the max amount of small/polygon pixels in the certain view field, and because of how many mods there are mixed with the fact that most people aren't playing on Quad Titan RTXs with ovver 130,000+ VRAM, it's just not gonna happen, as it's a game that relies on 3d modelling more than other games like GTA which is mostly Triangles. That and how many have played on the server and have multiple characters saved on the system all at once just causes the server to lag inturn, relating to it slowing down the rendering of trees. TLDR It's not just the map, its the game that's slowing down the server.
Regarding Overgrown 3+, it's a stunning map, it has everything, but it I know from history that it can actually be as laggy as chernarus, sometimes worse depeneding on how much freedom players have to build. I reckon it would be nice to have two RP servers and maybe 2 PVP servers (Unturnov + WWIII?) and for the player base? Well personally with the addition of the 'Escape From Unturnov', I've noticed a huge influx in the amount of people starting to play again. It's really nice to log in and have to wait in a queue for once, it's nostalgic almost. I reckon with the newer players, that we wait for a while and then add a new map, like the whole Rockstar Games drip feed content idea, keeping people interested, especially with a new RP server as good as Overgrown 3+. We could make custom NPC's for it too as I have a few ideas.

Thanks:) I agree, although as far as I can remember Overgrown 3+ wasn't too bad lag-wise, mainly because it used vanilla objects. But with all the composite and custom objects Chernarus uses, plus the huge amount of trees means more polygons = more lag. It's really strange though because ever since the huge unity update at the start of the year, Chernarus has had awful performance but never did before the update.
I'd love to open a WW2/3 server too, it's def on the list
